I know I'm a little late in the game on turmeric milk but I am so so so obsessed, I've been drinking this day and night & it's worth a share. I've been getting it delivered (obviously) for a while now but it started getting a little expensive so I've been making it at home recently. Plus, I like to put my twist on the whole thing... so, it's better at home. I was inspired by one of my fav beauty blogs, House of Preservation, to get cooking. I was watching their insta story & the girls were serving up a little batch of their own. I took some screen shots of their recipe but then added my own flavor (pun intended).
I feel like I've made it into a super drink & I LOVE it. Turmeric is an amazing antioxidant, anti-inflammatory - great for hangovers & headaches, improves skin clarity in basically every way & boosts immunity.
I put coconut oil in everything possible so I obviously added it to this. There are a million reasons to eat coconut oil but one of my favorites is the improved brain function (read about my obsession with concentrated coconut oil & why I drink it everyday here).
I add cinnamon & cayenne pepper because it helps speed up metabolism & I like a little spice.
Normally, I wouldn't think to put black pepper in this drink but it helps you body absorb the turmeric so it's absolutely necessary, plus it tastes really good!
Not everyone adds ginger but I put ginger in everything. Sometimes I literally just eat it plain without even pealing it. That obsessed. Ginger is full of flu fighting agents & AMAZING for digestion... I eat a piece when I am nauseous or have a stomach ache & I feel better immediately.
▹ 6 cups coconut / almond milk - you can do one or the other but I have been using Califia Farms blend of both coconut & almond.
▹ 2 teaspoons turmeric powder
▹ 1 tablespoon coconut oil
▹ 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
▹ 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
▹ 1 teaspoon fresh grated ginger
▹ 1/4 teaspoon pink himalayan sea salt
▹ 1 or two large pinches of nutmeg - a little goes a long way. I love the taste so I put more but you could go without this all together if you're not a nutmeg fan

▹ a dash of cayenne pepper
▹ 1 tablespoon coconut nectar - you can use honey too but coconut nectar is a healthy alternative to other sweeteners. It has a low glycemic index, contains amino acids and minerals, plus it tastes sort of like brown sugar.

You totally have to ! BTW I just read your post on healthy pancakes & I seriously do the same with the heated berries! Sometimes when I'm feeling like putting in more effort I put a little coconut oil in a sauce pan, then add the berries & coconut nectar until basically boiled and then add champagne... swear it's insane!
